Fred the Town Dog was a stray who was adopted by and became the mascot of Rockford , Coosa County . Fred lived in the town from 1993 to late 2002 and was featured on the Animal Planet channel. He was buried with his own headstone behind the town's Old Rock Jail .

The feud was sparked by a dispute over a stolen pig and eventually escalated to involve dozens of people on both sides, with several fatalities. Hatfield was the leader of the Hatfield clan and was known for his cunning and strategic thinking. He was also a successful businessman and operated a large timber operation in the area. Despite his reputation as a tough and sometimes ruthless individual, Hatfield was also known for his compassion and his willingness to help those in need. In 2011, Hatfield's grave was vandalized, with the vandals knocking over and breaking his headstone. The vandalism sparked outrage in the community
